May Favourites

So happy to be writing my May favourites as it means it is almost June the month of my holiday and birthday! The month of May has been quite boring in all aspects including make up there wasn't a lot of changes to my routine but heres what I have been loving!

Batiste dry shampoo big and bouncy XXL volume £3.99/200ml
I have been using dry shampoo for quite a few years now as it is great for inbetween washes but I also find it makes my hair easier to style. This XXL volume version is amazing for nights out, it seriously does add a lot of volume to my already thick hair.

EOS lip balm in summer fruit* £5.99/7g
I have already reviewed this on my blog - view here - so won't go into too much detail but has been great for prepping my lips for lipstick and it smells amazing.

MAC lipstick in RiRi Woo (limited edition - back this month)
The much lusted after lipstick this month then people move onto MAC's next collection however I have not forgotten about this and still loving it. Amazing pigmentation and lasting power read my full review here.

Urban Decay - Naked Flushed Palette (currently sold out)
The perfect palette for throwing in your bag in a hurry and touching up your make up on the go. I am particularly loving the champagne highlight and have been using it practically everyday as an inner corner highlight.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Transparent £3.99/14g
I have only been using this for a few days actually so this is a bit of a cheap and hardly a monthly favourite. However I would fully recommend this if you are looking for a good setting powder with no colour pay off. It is so light and does not look caked on at all, I have been using it to set my concealer under my eyes.

Real Techniques Setting brush £8.99
This cute little brush is the perfect size for setting powder in small areas like under the eyes, nose etc. It picks up just the right amount of product and helps avoid looking cakey.

So that's my monthly favourites this month. I think I really need to 'shop the stash' this month and mix my products up a little bit more.

Mini Budget Beauty Haul

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Yesterday me and Chrissy got up nice and early and headed into town to get some last holiday clothes. We go to Tenerife in 13 days and I cannot wait! It was so nice to be able to browse the shops including Primark when it was so quiet, I also loved looking round the beauty hall in House of Fraser when the workers were just setting up and happy to let you get on with it yourself. My birthday is 3 days after we come back our holiday and have already chose plenty of high end beauty products I would like. As our holiday is so soon I decided to be sensible (kind of) and ignore my cravings for luxury and chose some cheaper alternatives.

First up I got two face masks and a hair mask from primark. These face masks were only 90p each and are create for fun pamper nights on a budget or just if your needing a little pick me up I got a blemish mud and passion peel off, looking forward to trying these out! The hair mask was only £1.50, my hair is not in a terrible condition but I feel before going on holiday I would like to give the ends a bit of repairing. This sachet contains 75ml which is perfect for me with long thick hair and should cover it all.

The next 3 items I bought on 3 for 2 from superdrug. Chrissy was on the phone and they sort of jumped into my hand next thing I new I was in the queue paying. I am not someone who likes a matte face but was needing something to set my concealer so went for the Rimmel stay matte pressed powder in transparent. I haven't used this powder since I was a lot younger and used to pack it all over my face but so far I am liking it.

Next is the illuminating touch brightening concealer by collection. I just thought this would be good for brightening under the eye area I went for the lightest shade 'naked' which is probably two shades lighter than I would usually go for. Last up is the Maybelline 24hr color tattoo in permanent taupe I have tried these before but had bought a brighter shade and it didn't look that great on me. However this is a gorgeous neutral just what I like and think it will be perfect to take on holiday with me.

So that was my mini budget beauty haul! All together it cost me less than £15 I think so not too bad!

Philips Esee HD Camcorder / Inspect a Gadget.

Today's post is a bit different from me, but something I still feel is a great buy and worth sharing with you guys. Especially as a lot of my readers are bloggers themselves this may be something your interested in if you are just getting into photography or want to start filming.

When moneysupermarket were offering bloggers the chance to review one of five different travel gadgets as part of their inspectagadget competition I thought it was a great idea and wanted to get involved. The options included a tablet, e-reader, mp3 and DVD player but I decided to go for the Philips HD camcorder* as I already have a Ipad and kindle etc.

Something I rarely do now is film, when I was younger my mum was always filming our holidays and they are really fun to look back on. It would be nice to be able to do the same thing in ten years to come. As well as recording this camera also takes pictures which is really handy for someone like me who doesn't want to be carrying loads around with me. It is also pretty compact being smaller than an Iphone but this does not affect the quality in any way.

This camera films in HD 1080p and takes 12 Megapixel pictures it has a flash and is also touch screen. I am loving this camera as it is perfect for on the go and travelling and I am really looking forward to taking it on holiday with me this year and creating a sort of vlog for me and my boyfriend - which if you guys are interested I would be happy to share? The screen also turns round so you can see yourself when filming which is a great little feature.

It is really easy to transfer pictures onto the computer as it has a build in USB however the design of this is a little bit awkward as you need something to balance it when plugged it. It can also be charged using an apple iphone/ipod charger. The internal memory is very small and requires an SD micro sim to be able to hold more which can be picked up pretty cheap at £5 on Amazon.

This camera is great for travelling with or if you are just getting into filming/experimenting with cameras. The price? well this comes in at a bargain price of £51.99 from expansys which you can purchase here. I can fully recommend this website, I ordered around 2 o'clock and the next morning it arrived - great service or what.

So if your wanting to record your memories but not break the bank, whether you are a blogger, a parent or a camera newbie then this is for you and worth buying.

NOTD/Barry M Gelly Hi-shine - Prickly Pear

Sorry my NOTD's are not very exciting yet! I'm pretty boring when it comes to doing my nails but will try and be more adventurous.

Today is Barry M's Gelly Hi-Shine in prickly pear. How cute is the name? This gorgeous lilac is perfect for summer and another on trend pastel colour. The hi-shine does exactly as it says and just adds what to me looks like a topcoat, its leaves a lovely finish.

I am a fan of Barry M's nail polishes, two coats and this was good to go and it lasts around 3 days for me without obvious chipping.

MUA Glitterball Palette

Another MUA product to share with you guys today. It feels like the world has gone mad for MUA so as I had this glitterball palette* that I won again from Megan I though I would share my thoughts.

There are 12 different eye shadows in the palette and for £4 this is great value for money. The casing is a bit cheap looking and fragile feeling but I like how you can see the colours before opening the palette. This palette contains a mix of pastel and neutral shades which are all of course glittery. I do like a little bit of sparkle in my life so was excited to try it out.

The pigmentation is not amazing but since they are quite glittery I am looking at this as a good thing as yes you can have a bit too much glitter sometimes, for me anyway. Also they are quite powdery and do fall which will cause the palette to get a bit messy. However the staying power is actually not too bad. I will have to admit I have not worn any of these on their own but on top of other high quality matte eye shadows but these really added something to my eye make up and great for little finishing touches.

MUA is starting to grow on me a bit actually and I think if you are wanting to experiment a bit your eye shadows then this is definitely the palette as it is not too over the top but is very affordable.

99p Beauty Blender

The Beauty Blender is one of this years must have tools for applying make up and of course I wanted to try it to see if it really is better than using a brush. The orginial Beauty Blender costs £16 which seems a bit overpriced for a sponge? You can see the full range of the Beauty Blender here. When I saw Gemma from missmakeupmagpie post about a much cheaper alternative I ordered it right away.

Now obviously I cannot compare this to a real beauty blender but for less than £1 I am going to say it is definitely worth it. First of all it is the cutest wee sponge and I thought it was actually a bit small but when you run this under water it pretty much doubles in size making it perfect for your foundation. I simply wet the sponge, squeeze as tight as I can to ensure it is damp not wet. I also squeezed it into a towel just to double check there was no excess water.

I have only used this once but loved the results and could not wait to share with you guys! I used the bottom of the sponge for my foundation bouncing it over my face. The great thing about this is there is absolutely no streaks and just blends into your skin seamlessly. The tip of the sponge really good for concealer and blending concealer under your eyes and around your nose.

I do not think I could fault this what so ever for £1 it is a great application tool. I don't think it will replace my brushes but makes a really good alternative especially for during the summer when I am wanting a lighter application.

I bought mine through this seller on ebay and can say that although it is coming from China it took just over a week to arrive which I thought was great service and can definitely recommend them.

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation

Okay before I start I just want to say that I do love trying drug store foundations as there really are some good ones (bourjois looking at you!) so when one is hyped up as much as this was I need to have it. However I am always sceptical about them and unfortunately this foundation did not agree with me. I really wanted to like it but I have had a huge break out.

Lets talk about the positives, it was really light on my skin and didn't feel like it was sitting on top of my skin. It also was easy to build and did not cake at all. The shade was a pretty good match for me, slightly light but a little bit of bronzer can sort that. It was also really easy to blend so when I first used it I was really happy with it. Throughout the day it did slip a bit and my forehead was a bit shiny after 3/4 hours but for £6.99 I was happy.

Then the worst happened and the following day I had a break out on my forehead that is still lingering after a week (any recommended products would be appreciated). I have not had this many spots since I was about 13, I just don't get spots so I was taken aback. I do not have particularly sensitive skin either. I am not sure about all the ingredients etc so if someone could help out with any ingredients that might be in foundation I should be avoiding.

I have only worn it that once as I am too scared to try it again hence why there is very little photo evidence. I really am gutted about this as I could tell it would have been the perfect summer foundation. For some reason this foundation has not worked for me but it has for many other people and if you wish to try it for yourself it comes in 10 different shades here.

Today is a bit of a lazy post from me, sorry guys! I was out last night and currently feeling a bit sorry for myself so thought I would post what I am currently lusting over. I always love seeing what everyone's wanting as it can give you ideas too! 

1. This is a slightly boring one as everyone has it and is talking about it but I think this would be a good addition to my collection. I love my Naked 2 palette and with my holiday in under 4 weeks I think this would be perfect to travel with as the Naked 2 is a bit bulkier. It has all the neutral shades I would want as I like to keep my make up quite natural on holiday. 

2. I actually saw this on Helen from thelovecatsinc blog/you tube and loved it. I am sure it was the black she bought but I just loved the tan. It also comes in a gorgeous two toned pink and turquoise colour but I love a tan bag as it matches pretty much everything. 

3. I have been debating whether to get this for a while now, last year I used benefits rebel tinted moisturiser when I was on holiday but it wasn't until I was super tanned that the shade was a good match. I am thinking of getting this before I go in a shade or two darker than my current skin tone and I know its lovely and light. 

4.This is probably at the top of my list. I am currently really loving cream blushes and these are so popular I think it is time I got one. I am thinking of going for Gerbera what do you guys think?

5. Who doesn't love YSL lipsticks the packaging is gorgeous and the formula so hydrating. I am wanting a new coral lipstick for going away and I think when you go on holiday it is worth treating yourself to a bit of luxury.

6. Lastly another cream blush that I probably don't need but I have never tried Illamasquas blushes so it's about time I do that. From swatches and the website I like Dixie but again if you guys have any of suggestions let me know if the comments.

So thats what I am currently wanting. Hopefully by the end of June I will have most of them as it is my birthday next month too woo! I am also wondering does anyone know what make up counters are at Glasgow airport? Maybe I will be able to pick some things up at Duty free!

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless

I bought this mascara about a month and bit ago maybe? Whenever it was first realeased I bought it! I needed a new mascara at the time and this look promising. The packaging suits what they are trying to promote but not as sleek as I like in packaging, but I am just fussy I think! It claims to have grow lash complex and fibres which I can't say I have noticed any changes there.

What I do like is the plastic brush. It doesn't clump and I find it really easy to apply and doesn't clump ever after applying a few layers which seems to happen quite easily for me with other mascaras. I would have said this was the perfect mascara however it smudges under the eyes so easily! Literally five minutes after my make up is on it smudges underneath, this is easily wiped away but still slightly annoying!

So overall a good mascara but I am still on the hunt for the perfect one!
Any suggestions?

GOSH Long Lasting Brow Pen

Another GOSH product for you today and this one is a hidden gem. I have been filling my eyebrows in for about 2 years now and have never quite had them prefect. I have used eye brow pencils, powder and eyeshadow. Most recently I was using the MUA pro palette which I was loving but was just a little too powdery maybe. I knew I needed something else and when I saw Estee from essiebutton post about this I knew it was what I was looking for.

It is basically a felt tip pen for your eyebrows. I went for 001 dark brown but as far as I can see on the website it comes in two other colours - venetian brown and wheat. It is extremely easy to use as the point is so thin and perfect for precision. This colour is probably a wee bit too dark for me but nothing to noticeable I just apply with a light hand. I still use a little bit of powder over this to make it seem more natural but this has definitely helped keep my eyebrows in a perfect shape.

I was thinking of doing an eyebrow step by step, if anyone is interested leave in the comments and I will definitely do it!

Gosh Velvet Touch lipstick Madarina (152)

Sorry this post is going up so late guys, few techincal issues! But by tomorrow morning uni is finished until September and I am free to blog until my heart is content! 

If you didn't already know Superdrug have 3 for 2 across all their cosmestics and eyelashes at the moment (sorry guys). I knew I wanted to pick up Revlon's nearly naked foundation - which is currently being tested - but thought what's the point in not choosing two more products and this was one of them. This was techinally my 'free' product, it took me ages to decide but I eventually went for a summery lipstick. GOSH is a brand I forget about a lot of the time and my other purchase was from GOSH too so possibly a new love? 

I chose this lipstick because it is a gorgeous pale peach/nude which I am currently loving for springs/summer. It is very creamy feeling but I found it clung to any dry patches so make sure your lips are suitably prepped before hand. Only two swipes and this is perfectly opaque on your lips. 

I do love this lipstick for summer time, especially when I have more of a tan. 

This shade is not available on the website but there is a few other lovely summery shades including 'exotic' and 'Lambada' £6.49 - Here. I am sure if you browsed your local superdrug though you would find Madarina.

MUA Nail Polish

I won these nail polishes from the lovely Megan from Escape through my eyes she has a great blog with a bit of everything from beauty to lifestyle so if you haven't seen it already then you should check it out! I was so happy to win her 50 follower giveaway and she sent a lovely mix of prizes that were all beautifully wrapped and I will be posting about soon. 

No you are not seeing things these look exactly like Essie nail polish but they are MUA and are £1! Yep just £1 for these and the colours in my opinion are pretty gorgeous. Megan sent me four colours and she could not have picked any better, a mix of pastels that are perfect for summer. 

Now I was really entrigued to try these to see how they are compared to Essie and they are actually great for the price tag. Okay the formula isn't the thickest but after 3 coats I was pretty happy. It lasted around 2 days before chipping but I didn't expect anything more.

Overall I love these and will definitely be getting the rest of the collection as they have a great range of lovely colours, pretty packaging and quality that I can accept for £1.

MAC RiRi Woo.

I was going to apologise for the picture heavy post but this really does deserve it so sorrynotsorry!

After waiting patiently for 3 days it has finally arrived. I do love when MAC bring out new collections but I don't always have that I NEED that feeling but for some reason I needed this. I am not even a huge fan of Rihanna, I do like some of her songs but thats as far as it goes really. I new as soon as I saw the press release I'd be buying this. So at five minutes to 11 I went onto MAC's website and refreshed until it eventually said buy now. 

I have never owned Ruby Woo but swatched it a million times but  I held off buying it when I knew RiRi Woo was launching. It is said to be a twist on Rihanna's favourite Ruby Woo but with slightly bluer undertones. After seeing a few comparisons they look pretty similar. This really is a gorgeous red to have in your collection and the engraving of 'RiRi' makes it all the better.I only received it this morning so cannot give a full review on wear time etc I assume to be similar to MAC's other matte lipstick although this is 'retro matte'. I have had it on my lips for around 2 and a half hours and colour pay off is still amazing my lips are not feeling dry yet but I suspect that will come soon with most matte lipsticks. 

Over I absolutely love this and if you are a lipstick collector then I would suggest going for it when it comes back in June however if you already have Ruby Woo and are looking for a different red altogether then I probably wouldn't bother.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick - Kate Moss 012

Now that Spring is finally here we are all buying into the brights and corals. I love spring time make up and always take advantage of the time to wear those brights that I just cannot pull off in winter. I had read a few reviews on this lipstick before buying it and many were saying that was a bright coral. I would say that this is actually much more of an orangey red. It is very bright, although this does not make it any less gorgeous!

I love the packaging of Rimmels lipstick especially this black bullet with the red 'Kate' it just makes it look quite classy and high end. The formula of this lipstick as with most of Rimmel's is extremely pigmented and lasts pretty much most of the day without having to touch up. The only thing I would say it can bleed a little so would suggest a good lip liner with it. I always find Rimmels lipstick really comfortable to wear as well as long as my lips have been suitably prepped previously then they are not left feeling dry later.

The only negative thing I have to say about this lipstick, as I find with my other Rimmel lipsticks I cannot stand the smell! I just really hate it for some reason it is like a horrible plastic smell. I am not sure if this is just me so can you let me know if you also find this?

Overall though I do love Rimmels well pigmented creamy lipsticks.

Dainty Doll Powder Blush - You Are My Sunshine.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Today's post is about a blush I have been loving recently, I am sure you have seen it on many blogs in the last few weeks. When I saw it I had to have it. It just look like the perfect summer blush. I had told myself not buy anyone more powder blushes and to add more cream blushes to my collection but for £1.99 how could I not?

We have all heard on Nicola Roberts Dainty Doll collection aimed at those with a paler skin tones. However I fully believe that it should be strictly limited to those with a paler complexion. I had never tried this range for that reason but now I have I realise that it can work for many skin tones.

You Are My Sunshine is a gorgeous peach with gold shimmer through it - possibly similar to NARS orgasm?  This applies beautifully with a slight slimmer but not overly leaving you looking like a discoball. But if you are a completely matte lover then I wouldn't recommend this. It is not too pigmented but is easily build able to achieve the look you want. Due to the shimmer it has I would suggest skipping highlighting after it as it really is enough already.

I think this would look gorgeous on tanned or sallow skin tones but would still work on paler skin as it doesn't apply too heavily.

For £1.99 this really is a bargain and I would recommend buying if you looking to build up a blush collection or just simply want a new summer blush

L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you are all looking forward to the weekend. Today I thought I would share with you what appears to be the less expesive version of  Biodermas Sensibio H20. I cannot confirm this as I have not tried it myself however I am loving this Micellar solution by L'Oreal so much that I don't plan on. 

L'Oreal claim that this dissolves make-up, unclogs pores and removes impurities and tones and soothes skin. It does exactly this as well as leaving your skin feeling lovely and soft. I have been using this my pouring a small amount onto a cotton bud and simply wiping all over my face including my eyes. It removes every last bit of make up and is so kind to skin that even the heaviest of eye make up will not be a problem to remove. 

If you are currently using Bioderma at the moment I am not suggesting you should change to this immediately because as I said I cannot confirm it is the same or any better. However if you aren't using anything then you really should try this. 

At the moment it is only £2.48 in Superdrug - Here for 200ml a total bargain!

April Favourites

I cannot believe we are into March already. I thought since this is my third month blogging that I should start doing my monthly favourites because I always like seeing what people have been loving so hopefully you do too! 

St Tropez Gradual Tan Medium/Dark - £14.39/200ml

The weather is getting slightly better and I am sick of being pale. This is perfect for building up a even natural looking tan but still giving you plenty of colour. It doubles up as a moisturiser and leaves your give with a lovely glow as well. It does have the usual fake tan smell but I can sacrifice that for a bit of colour. 

Lush Ocean Salt Facial Scrub - £6.95/100g £12.95/250g

I already reviewed this scrub here so won't say too much on it. It has been leaving my skin soft and smooth creating the perfect base for my make up. Review here.

The Body Shop Coconut Cream Body Scrub.£12.50/200ml

Due to putting fake tan on it is important that I exfoliate my body fully to ensure the tan does not gather on my skin in any places and leave a matchy flaky mess. I am loving this one from the body shop as it is not too harsh but still leaves my skin perfectly smooth. 

Avon Ideal Flawless Invisible Flawless Foundation.£12/30ml

I decided to start using this recently my face has been quite oily and this is more of a matte foundation. I am not a fan of the matte look so I apply a moisturer underneath and it gives me a dewy finish.The colour on this is perfect however once I have more of a tan I will need to go up a shade. 

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. £4.19/7ml

As this is my first month using this concealer I thought it was only right to pop it into my favourites. There is nothing more to say here as I think we all know how great it is. Here is my thoughts on it. 

MUA Power Pout - Rendezvous. £3

Another product I have already reviewed. As I have been doing uni work and sitting about the house I still need some colour on my lips. This is perfect for those days you need something easy and natural. You can read about it here

Diesel Zero Plus Feminine. £12.99/75ml

Lastly a perfume to finish off. I buy this perfume every summer and will never get bored of it. It smells amazing. It is like summer in a bottle smelling of sun cream and coconuts, really hard to describe but its is so cheap and worth trying this is likely to be is my favourites until the end of summer. Not quite as easy to buy in shops but if you have a semi-chem or something similar to you then is it around £9.99. If not Amazon is great too!
